West Australian Social Distancing Orchestra – an initiative of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra

Orchestral Connections

Date 8, 14, 22 and 28 Sep 21
Location Online

The Association of British Orchestras and Symphony Services Australia invite you to join us over four mornings in September for a special online orchestral symposium. Featuring speakers from both the UK and Australasia, panels will naturally focus on the new landscape for orchestras post-COVID. But we will also look beyond the pandemic, to ways in which orchestras will remain relevant and thrive in the future.

Week 1: Surviving and Thriving – Wednesday 8 September, 9am-10:15am

Sharing the challenges and successes of orchestras across the world, examining national/international touring, changes to fundraising and philanthropy, and evolving audience attitudes.

Week 2: Inclusive Orchestras – Tuesday 14 September, 9am-10:15am

Examining diversity and inclusion on and off the stage and dissecting meaningful programs that have demonstrated real impact.

Week 3: Music That Reflects Us – Wednesday 22 September, 9am-10:15am

How do orchestras meet the challenge of programming music that audiences want to hear, while also reflecting our people and our time?

Week 4: Now More Than Ever – Tuesday 28 September, 9am-10:15am

More than ever before, education, outreach and community are vital to the survival of orchestras – what can we learn from each other?
