A collection of short-form works for radio, inspired by the theme of the Season “Who Are We Now” and in the context of the continuing pandemic, representing and reflecting unsung and suppressed women’s voices.

Overview

WOW Australia (Women of the World) in consultation with the WOW Foundation in London will commission a collection of short-form works for radio, inspired by the theme of the Season “Who Are We Now” and in the context of the continuing pandemic.

The works represent and reflect unsung and suppressed women’s voices: First Nation women, women of colour, and culturally and linguistically diverse women. What has this current world order taught us about where we have come from? How are we divided – rich from poor, men from women, carers from cared for, black from white. How did we get here and where are we going?

About the artist

Of One Mind (OOM) is an Australian cultural enterprise formed by Cathy Hunt and Leigh Tabrett to develop and support cultural activities which communicate pressing social issues and create lasting cultural change. The  focus is on the need to end gender discrimination in the belief that it is through gender equality, we will find solutions to many other world issues and make life better for all, women, girls, men and boys.

OOM works closely with the WOW Foundation in London to deliver WOW (Women of the World) celebrations in Australia, including the 2018 WOW Festival as part of the Commonwealth Games cultural program and online events with WOW Festival organisers across the globe.

The voices of First Nation (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) women and girls is central to all OOM activities. OOM is currently delivering WOW conversations and cultural celebrations in regional and remote locations across the State of Queensland and a program for the 2021 Brisbane Festival.
