Pilgrimage to Imago (Journey to the mother/adult self/fly) is an open project that extends a strong psychoanalytical context, through a residential exploration within and without the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations programme of work and its archival heritage.
The Tavistock Institute of Human Relations (TIHR) applies social science to contemporary issues and problems.
The TIHR is dedicated to the study of human relations for the purpose of bettering working life and conditions for all humans within their organisations, communities and broader societies and to the influence of environment on the development of human character or capacity; to conduct research and provide opportunities for learning through experience for this purpose; to publish the results of such study and research; to train students in or for any branches of the said study.
The Institute’s archive is held at Wellcome Collection and it has already inspired a number of artistic responses.
The institute has a growing programme, building our practice as an expert organisation in the integration of the arts and social sciences in robust and rigorous practice and in support of social change, including residential artists and the Deepening Creative Practice with Organisations programme.

This workshop is a call to arms about the person you think are and the person you feel you are. The ‘self’ can be a response to the world or simply a response to a misrepresented ‘self’ – this workshop offers to bring together ‘unthought’ thoughts, ideas, moments, using a series of symbolic images designed to stimulate and facilitate meanings.
Led by Simone Kennedy, Visiting Artist-in-Residence at the Tavistock Institute.
SO, what could you say of the ‘self’? Of what could art speak?
All materials, lunch and refreshments provided. Pay as you wish, on the day (card machine available)
