Ghost Tunes

Date 31.03.2022 - 04.04.2022
Location Counterflows 2022, Glasgow

Overview

Ghost Tunes is an expanded concept album created by sound artists and writers from Australia and Scotland.

Ghost Tunes considers the physical world as cultural swales and swirls around language, time and ecologies. Through a series of mutual exchanges and learnings, the artists will create works that become a full length album and publication to be launched at Wired Lab Open Day 2022, and Counterflows 2022.

Ghost Tunes is a collaborative arts project exploring language, landscape and culture. It is at the development and discussion stage. Outcomes for the project will be determined by the artists as they open up a dialogue across their separate practices. A series of Zoom sessions are planned to open this dialogue between Scottish and Australian artists and will also involve participation from other voices across communities. Ongoing work will be presented online as ideas and provocations develop.

About the artist

AC Projects is an independent arts organisation based in Glasgow and founded to develop ideas, projects and performance opportunities that support the continued exploration of cutting-edge music practices from the grassroots and underground music communities across Scotland, the UK and internationally. AC Projects offers opportunities for artists to create new work that will challenge conceived notions in music making and allow musicians, composers and audiences the space and time to explore new ideas. AC Projects has delivered work in Europe, India, Brazil and Australia.

The creative director of AC Projects/Alternative Currents, Alasdair Campbell produces the Glasgow-based contemporary music festival Counterflows. He co-produces and co-curates the Tectonics Festival with Ilan Volkov, and the BBC SSO, a residency series for new artists in collaboration with CCA in Glasgow and the Scottish Sculpture Workshop in Lumsden. Alasdair is developing a network of local and international producers and organisations, ‘The Experimental Performance Network’.
