Overview

Featuring leading artist Alix Marie, Photoworks (UK) Director Shoair Mavlian and Assistant Curator Raquel Villar-Pérez, Ballarat International Foto Biennale Artistic Director and CEO Fiona Sweet.

An in-conversation event, discussing the creation and presentation of Alix’s new work Styx. The event will also explore the relationship between two international photographic festivals – Photoworks (UK) and the Ballarat International Foto Biennale (AUS).

In this world premiere body of work, Alix Marie draws on the myth of Styx to explore water deities and their contemporary manifestations, the intersection between the body and its representation, alongside experimenting with the expanded possibilities of photography.
