Overview

Since 2014, the British Film Festival has been proudly presented by Palace Cinemas. The Festival celebrates the finest filmmakers and acting talent British cinema has to offer, including true stories, literary adaptations, biographies and documentaries. Returning in October 2021, the British Film Festival promises to delight, inspire and showcase the very best of British to Australian audiences.

THE DUKE, OPENING NIGHT

In 1961, 60-year-old taxi driver Kempton Bunton steals Goya’s portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery in London, in this delightful underdog tale starring the excellent Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren.

OFF THE RAILS, SPARKLING SCREENINGS

Three friends in their 50’s recreate an inter-rail journey across Europe from their twenties, with their friend’s 18-year-old daughter taking her mother’s place in this feel-good comedy starring Sally Phillips and Kelly Preston.

7 from the 70s

Presenting a sublime selection of some of the best British films from the 1970s, this retrospective features two Stanley Kubrick classics, a mod drama, breakthrough subject matter, a beloved family film and some of the most well-known actors from the era. The lineup includes:
